Sometimes in life you get hit by metaphorical rock. It hurts. It damages you. It is sometimes makes you think you cannot go on any further. Well, let me tell you a little story about what happened to me today.
Woke up early to go surfing this morning and was really stoked about the session that I was about to have. The waves have been really good for the last couple of weeks. On my bike ride to the beach something unexpected happened. I hit a rock while pedaling and destroyed my pinky toe. I’m pretty sure it was just a very bad sprain, but as I’m writing this right now it is about twice the size it should be an almost completely black and blue.
Now I could’ve let this stop me from going surfing today. But even through the pain, and trust me it really hurt every time I curled my toe to grip my surfboard, there was no stopping me from getting in the water and enjoying my morning surf. Below is one of my better waves of the day.
You see this is a perfect metaphor for life. When you get hit by the rock in life that makes you feel like you just can’t continue on the path that you are going, get back on the board and ride the wave of life. It’s not always going to go as planned and it won’t always be perfect. But I can tell you now that the rewards will far outweigh the temporary pain you feel now.
Hopefully my destroyed toe story and metaphor helps at least one person going through a tough time. So please share this post on your Facebook or twitter so that can reach that one person.
Thank you so much for reading my blog!
