Something I’ve learned over the last few years is that the simpler my life is the happier I’ve been.
Sometimes we like to make situations more difficult than they need to be. One situation particularly comes to mind where I made things more difficult on everyone involved that I really need to be had I just had proper communication. Communicating with people is one of the easiest ways to keep life simple. When you start getting into assumptions bad things can happen.
Another major way to keep life simple is to not buy things you don’t need. Simplicity when it comes to things is one of the biggest lessons in life that I’ve come to really cherish. It leads to less clutter and less responsibility. Not that responsibility is bad, but if it’s something you never should’ve had in the first place then that responsibility is just something else keeping life from being simple. And that also leads to things that you do have. If you currently have things eat don’t need any more then sell them and use those resources in your business or to get things you do need.
Keep things clean. I’ve made a real conscious effort to clean up after myself and to not leave dishes in the sink for the next morning. Things go up quickly and is easier to take 10 seconds now than to try to take 15 min. later. Also, hire a maid. Especially if they’re not expensive. Your time could be better spent doing other things.
And to conclude this post, set priorities, work through them slowly and celebrate when you’ve done each one of them. Doing this keeps you focused on the task at hand and keeps the process simple. I struggled a lot but making simple things difficult only because I didn’t have priorities and didn’t celebrate the small victories.
